Michael Carlyle Hall, popularly known as “Dexter Morgan” in the Showtime TV Network Dexter, is an award-winning stage and television actor for many years. Hall won a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award in the year 2010 for his famous portrayal as Morgan. Hall was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on February 1, 1971 to Janice Hall (guidance counselor) and William Hall (ex-IBM employee). At the age of 11, he lost his father to prostate cancer in 1982. He grew up to be the only child. His sister died while she was in her infancy before Hall's birth. Michael attended Ravenscroft School in Raleigh where he graduated in 1989. In 1993 he graduated from Earlham College, Indiana. Initially after completing his graduation, he thought of attending a law school. However, that inclination never really worked for him and he ended up joining New York University's Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts from where he graduated in 1996.
